Michael D. Bell, Managing Principal

Michael D. Bell is the founder and managing principal of Fronterion LLC legal outsourcing advisory.

His expertise covers the full spectrum of legal outsourcing advisory services including solution development, onsite vendor due diligence and selection, risk management, ethical compliance, solution implementation, and ongoing vendor relationship management.

Working with some of the largest law firms in the world, Bell helps clients structure and implement highly innovative legal outsourcing engagements.

Bell is the author of the seminal book Implementing a Successful Legal Outsourcing Engagement, which is regarded by many to be the foremost authority on the topic of legal outsourcing. As an internationally sought-after conference speaker on the topic legal outsourcing, Bell has also been featured and quoted in a number of professional and mainstream publications such as The Lawyer, The Law Society Gazette, and The Washington Post. He is also the author of LPO Source blog (www.LPOsource.com) and contributor to the LPO Ethics Resource Centre (www.LPOethics.com).

 

David M. Sinow, Principal

David M. Sinow is a co-founder and principal of Fronterion LLC legal outsourcing advisory.

With 36 years of experience as a qualified legal professional, Sinow’s significant experience leads to excellence in servicing large law firms on legal outsourcing matters. He brings rigor and business know-how to the financial modeling, which underpins legal outsourcing initiatives. He also advises on the complex structuring of LPO engagements, including the review of master service agreement terms and conditions.

Prior to his work at Fronterion, Sinow used his entrepreneurial and legal talents to found a former, US-based financial holding company consisting of a private bank, a private trust company, and an investment advisory firm serving institutional clients. In addition, Sinow is presently a Professor of Finance, as well as the Director of the Office of Risk Management & Insurance Research, at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, where he specializes in enterprise risk management.

Sinow has substantial board experience, having served as a director with bank boards, trust companies, holding companies, real estate companies, business boards and non-profits. Throughout his career, he has advised many businesses on merger and acquisition activities, as well as Regulation D capital offerings.

 

Ryan E. Franklin, Principal

Ryan E. Franklin is a principal of Fronterion LLC and is responsible for strategic analysis.

Franklin has experience in various client-serving roles aimed at increasing value across many industries. Prior to Fronterion, Franklin worked for a management consulting firm where he focused on quantitative and qualitative financial risk strategy management and fraud prevention for large global banking clients.  Franklin also worked for a leading boutique investment bank focusing on valuation engagements for financial reporting, tax and strategic purposes.

He now brings his expertise and experience to the legal arena, where cost analysis and market strategy take a greater role in the success of legal operations.
